As the weather cools, parties, cookouts, and casual gatherings of family and friends get even more fun. So this week we’re pouring five wines perfect for autumn entertaining and enjoyment from Austria, France and South Africa. Joins us from 3-7pm on Friday and noon-4pm on Saturday to sample:
Ruttenstock Grüner Veltliner Klassic 2021 – Drinks like a Sauvignon Blanc-based Vinho Verde right now (which is to say crazy, prickly, fun!) but will evolve into more classic GV flavors over the next few months.
Philippe Colin Chardonnay Franschhoek Topiary 2019 – Burgundy’s Philippe Colin heads to South Africa to craft this lovely, rich and round, Chardonnay that has more than enough energy to be deliciously refreshing.
Brotte Les Hauts de Barville Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc 2020 – The biggest wine on the tasting table this weekend is…White! Not all Chateauneuf du Pape is red, and this stunning 93 point example is a great introduction to this rare treat.
Hillinger Blaufrankisch Leithaberg Ried Umriss 2017 – Supremely handcrafted Austrian red from the country’s finest black grape and one of Burgenland’s finest vineyards. The 93 point ratings is not an overstatement!
Clos Maia Le Petit Clos 2020 – Not terribly showy but remarkably delicious with a freshness and drinkability hard to find in wines from the south of France these days. Bravo!
As always we’ll have some treats from the cheese case out to sample with the wines and best six/12 bottle discounts available on a mix/match basis during the tasting. Come in, warm up, and enjoy!
