In 2019 Passion Vines launched Wine Foundations a 6-week course that provides a great primer for the basics of understanding of the wine world, including French wines. However, the deeper into this legendary wine region you go, the more intricacies and details you discover. That's why, for a second time, we're offering a Wine Foundations – FRANCE!
Over the course of 3-weeks, we will embark on an exploration of the most popular French wine regions, their terroir, varietals and much more! You will leave this course with confidence in French wine, a new understanding of the tasting process, and curiosity to introduce your palate to even more countries and regions!
This course will be held on Tuesday nights; 2/21/23, 2/28/23, and 3/7/23 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Passion Vines in Somers Point.

Who is this for?
First and foremost, it’s for anyone who genuinely loves wine. Specifically, it’s for the beginner to intermediate wine drinker, who wants to feel more confident when it comes to French wine. This is an essential course for those in the food and beverage industry (bartenders, servers, and managers).
Course Curriculum
Week 1 : Uncover the northern wine regions of France: Loire Valley, Champagne, Alsace
Week 2: Uncover the central wine regions of France: Burgundy, Beaujolais, South-West
Week 3: Uncover the southern wine regions of France: Rhone Valley, Provence, Languedoc-Roussillon
Meet your teacher, David!
After more than two decades as a college professor, David Setley retired from his role in academia and set about pursuing his lifelong interest of wine. In 2021, after completing coursework at the highly respected Wine School of Philadelphia, David earned Level 2 and Level 3 Certified Sommelier certifications. David was thrilled to accept a position at Passion Vines in late Fall of 2021, where he has merged his experience as an educator with his love and knowledge for wine through entertaining and informative wine tasting events and classes.
