Drew entered the wine world while attending UCSB and living near Santa Barbara’s wine country. While pursuing a master’s degree at Cal State Los Angeles, Drew worked a harvest with winemaker Kent Humphrey of Eric Kent Wines; and ultimately went on to work stints for Copain, DuMOL, Kosta Brown, Tuck Beckstoffer and R2 Wine/Roessler Cellars, where he still consults. Yet it wasn’t until after he married Emily (who is also the Hospitality Director at LIOCO Wines), that she convinced him it was time they create their own wine… With no mortgage and no kids, they figured, “Let’s do it!” and Trail Marker Wine Company was born.

With grapes sourced from small, responsibly farmed and passionately cared for vineyards from Mendocino to Santa Ynez, Trail Marker Wine Co. produces wines that are high acid, low alcohol, well-balanced expressions of these unique vineyards. The spirit of the name Trail Marker reflects the search for these special places where man and nature meet, in a time and space that creates the essence of both vintage and vineyard in each and every bottle.
