“I’m not drinking any f#!*@& Merlot” - This phrase in the movie Sideways changed the wine industry. After the release Sideways, the grape varietal Merlot got an undeserved bad rap and suffered a decline in consumption, while Pinot Noir consumption surged. Did you know the Cheval Blanc (1er Grand Cru Classe’) that Miles enjoys at the end of the movie is primarily Merlot? Merlot is regaining popularity and there are many wineries producing fantastic examples. This tasting will feature a flight of 6 wines consisting of 3 Pinot Noir and 3 Merlot to compare and contrast both of these excellent varietals.
The tasting will be guided by Corvina Sommelier Sherry Seston. Sherry is a wine educator, enologist, WSET diploma candidate, and has completed the Advanced WSET certification.
