We’re covering some ground in this weekend’s free tastings on Friday (3-7pm) and Saturday (noon-4pm) as we sample wines from Austria, Greece, Piemonte, Priorat and the Willamette Valley (whew!).

Josef Bauer Gruner Veltliner Wagram 2021 – A terrific Grüner vintage in Austria shines in this very salty, minerally, white pepper-inflected, white that pretty much defines “crisp.” And “great value” as well!
Avantis Malagousia Evia 2021 - Greece's Malagousia takes on the character of it site nicely and here in northern reaches of Evia it's all about crispness and cut. Big aromas and flavors of peach, green apple and spring flowers are lifted and freshened by Granny Smith-like acidity and a big dose of salty minerality.
Patricia Green Willamette Valley Still Wine 2020 – A one-time "Champagne blend" of quick-pressed Webber Vyd Pinot Noir plus Ribbon Ridge Chardonnay that has the color and complexity of rose Champagne (but none of the bubbles!). A very nice "save" from the fires of 2020.
Monte Degli Angeli Pinot Noir Piemonte 2020 – Wow, this long-time value favorite has stepped a HUGE notch in quality and finesse while still managing to be remarkably inexpensive. Terrific all-purpose Pinot for the money.
En Numeros Vermells Priorat AiAiAi 2020 – Plenty of ripe and powerful Priorat character here in Silvia Puig’s Priorat built for early drinking (although it will last nicely, too). Almost Zinfandel-like in it’s super juicy character and immediacy. Fun.
