Local Event
Customers will have the unique opportunity to sample products at the “Spirit of Ireland” event on March 7 from 5:30 – 8:30 P.M. at the Manchester Country Club in Bedford, NH. Event attendees will experience the collection of 20 Irish whiskeys, sip specialty cocktails, converse with distillery representatives, enjoy delicious Irish cuisine and purchase products. Individuals who purchase three or more bottles will receive a 20% discount on their order.
Two rare selections of Fercullen Whiskey from the Powerscourt Distillery will be among the many Irish whiskeys available at select NH Liquor & Wine Outlets in March and at this event. This includes Fercullen Single Malt Marsala Finish, a 22-year-old single malt matured in an ex-bourbon barrel and finished for over two years in a marsala barrel. In addition, only 300 bottles are available of the 122.6 proof Fercullen Single Malt Ex-Bourbon Finish, a 5-year-old, triple-distilled single malt Irish whiskey.
Each year, only three casks are available worldwide of The Irishman 17-Year-Old Single Malt Irish Whiskey, named the Best Single Malt Whiskey 16 Years and Older in the 2023 Irish Whiskey Awards. One of those casks will be available to NH Liquor & Wine Outlet customers.
Adding to the exclusivity, a limited quantity of Writers’ Tears Cask Strength Irish Whiskey, with only 8,700 bottles produced worldwide, will also be available. The comprehensive product list is noted below.
“Bord Bia is delighted to partner with the New Hampshire Liquor Commission, bringing the great taste and unique characteristics of Irish whiskey to customers in this important state for the Irish drinks industry,” said Daragh Flanagan, Bord Bia’s VP for Drinks in North America. “We are especially excited to have such a strong representation from many of Ireland’s leading distilleries participating in this promotion during the month of March – an ideal time to discover and learn more about the Irish sprits category.”
Headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, Bord Bia is the Irish government agency responsible for the trade development and export promotion of Ireland’s food, drink and horticulture industry. Its purpose is to bring Ireland’s outstanding food, drink and horticulture to the world, thus enabling growth and sustainability of producers.
In 2022, Bord Bia launched a “Spirit of Ireland” education program, its largest investment in the promotion of Irish spirits yet. The organization piloted the initiative in February 2022 with NHLC during an Irish spirits educational event targeting customer-facing NH Liquor & Wine Outlet employees. Over 75 managers and staff participated in a learning experience including virtual reality tours of 20 of Ireland's distilleries, interviews with master distillers and barrel coopers, and product sampling.
Following the success of the employee training, Bord Bia led a “Taste of Ireland: Exploring Premium Irish Spirits” event during NHLC’s annual Distiller’s Week – a week of spirits-tasting events in November, including the largest spirits-tasting expo in New England. Over 100 guests attended the sold-out event, which included hors d’oeuvres, signature cocktail sampling and interactive discussions about Irish spirits with notable distillers.
Each of the following products will be offered at the Spirit of Ireland event and in select NH Liquor & Wine Outlets in March:
