Soter Vineyards Tasting - 8/15We've had some pretty cool events over our nearly 4 years in SF, but never have we had a Winemaker from Oregon in the house for our Tasting Series! And in true West Coast fashion, we are going to bring an end to that the only way we know how - #onlythebest - by bringing in Soter Winemaker James Cahill!
Soter Vineyards has long been a favorite of mine. Their Mineral Springs Ranch property and vineyard are absolutely stunning in every way, and the wines are a reflection of this majestic site. The combination of respectful farming and craftsmanship, as well as ancient soils and temperate climate result in wines that are layered, nuanced and seductively captivating.
Please join us next Wednesday, August 15th from 5pm-Midnight, for this special tasting! And come meet James Cahill, who will be with us from 7-9pm. Come with your questions because after leaving us he will head right into the Harvest of 2018!
For the tasting we have 2 wines from the North Valley Vineyards Label, and 2 from the Mineral Springs Ranch Estate. The North Valley Vineyards Project was born out of James Cahill's desire to work with some other unique vineyards outside of the Mineral Springs Ranch Estate Vineyard. You are in for a treat!
Bright pink hue with flavors of asian pear, strawberry, bubble gum and ruby red grapefruit. Finishing on lengthy citrus and mouthwatering acidity.
A blend from some of the finest pinot noir vineyards in the Willamette Valley. Engaging aromas of black cherry and dark chocolate. The palate is dense and generous with cola, berry, sweet oak spices, finishing lush, opulent and lingering. 93pts - Vinous
One of the more powerful vintages to come from MSR, the 2014 has a sense of depth, intensity and structure. Blackberry and baking spices on the nose, leads to densely packed, mineral-laced blueberry and raspberry flavors, finishing seamless and extremely long. 98pts, Top 100 of 2016 - James Suckling; 94pts - Vinous
90% Pinot Noir, 10% Chardonnay. Light Salmon in color with a seductive nose of cranberry and toast. On the palate it is creamy and coating at first, before the vibrant core of acidity and fine bubble steal the show! A harmonious and pure expression of MSR, finishes with resonating mineral and strawberry notes. 92pts - Vinous
We hope you can make it out next week! It's not often we get a winemaker to attend this close to Harvest, so let's show James some love for making the trip! And with Rosé, Pinot Noir and Sparkling in the tasting, there's almost something for everyone!
