The Wine Scholar Guild is an internationally recognized certification body for advanced wine learning. Their programs are respectively the most comprehensive formal study programs available bar none. Upon passing the Spanish Wine Scholar examination, the scholar receives a diploma and the right to add the post nominals SWS (Spanish Wine Scholar) to their name.
This course, taught by Seattle-based wine educator Tanya Morning Star Darling, CWE and SWS, offers in-depth study of Spain’s wine-producing regions, covering topics including grape varieties, origin of cultivars, geological exploration, wine cultivation and viticulture, history of the region’s winemaking, food specific to each region and regulations for wine categories. Each class will include sensory evaluation of representative wines from the regions studied.
A materials fee of $150 will be assessed and paid separately to the host venue. Students must be 21 years of age to participate in wine tasting.

Tuition includes: Six 3-hour classes, one 3-hour review session, certification exam, study manual and Wine Scholar Guild online learning modules.
