Scribe Winery began as an ambitious project to restore the old, pre-Prohibition, historic Dresel wine estate in Sonoma County. Andrew and Adam Mariani, fourth-generation California farmers and brothers, transformed the 250-acre turkey and rattlesnake-ridden property into a modern-day winery and cellar with revitalized, organically-farmed vineyards. The brothers take great joy in nurturing the estate, thinking of themselves as scribes of the land; they are devoted to honoring its fascinating past while cultivating it responsibly for the future.

Sribe welcomes visitors to the estate in a convivial, relaxed manner without a traditional tasting room or typical “winery” set-up. In just a few short years, they have created a cult following for themselves as much for their neighborly ambiance as they have for their very popular, terroir driven, varietal wines. Today the brothers and their talented team of winemakers and vineyard managers produce delicious small lot Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Riesling and a bone-dry Sylvaner. The Sylvaner—which is wildly delicious—is not a totally random choice on their part. Rather, it's likely that the property's original owner, German immigrant Emil Dresel, may have been the first to bring certain German grape varieties, like Sylvaner, into the United States.
