As a category, red wine blends are exploding and in many cases are out selling many other varietals such as Merlot and Pinot Noir. By definition a red blend is any domestic wine that is not made from a single grape variety. Many of the world's most famous wines are red blends. Notable examples are Bordeaux and Chateaneuf du Pape. However, in California to be labeled a varietal, wine needs to only be 75% of the specified varietal. Consequently, some wines you may have been enjoying-thinking they were 100% Cab Sauvignon, were actually made from a blend of severel different grapes. Join us as we demystify red blends. We'll enjoy a taste of eight wines from around the world to show how the majority of red wines are blends. Among regions we'll taste wines from: Bordeaux, Chianti, Spain, California.
We will offer a 10% discount on the purchase of all wines tasted.
