Latin for ‘location’, Locus sources fruit from cooler climate vineyards in the Yakima Valley and Naches Heights AVAs of Washington State to produce unique, handcrafted wines that best showcase where they were sourced. Our Old World-like approach to our favorite varietals – Syrah, Cinsault, Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc – produces wines with higher acidity and less oak that are approachable and destined for food pairing.
Locus Wine Academy presents a new series, Locus Versus. We will taste various world wines and compare them to Locus Wines. We will pick wine regions with similar profile wines, or at least the same set of grapes, flavors, etc.
Naturally, the first 'fight' is with Rhône and South Eastern France. We are including Provence in there too. Don't tell the Rhône folk. We will open bottles of wines that truly represent Southern and Northern regions of Rhone valley and then we will compare them with what we produce here with Washington fruit. We will pair them with food so you can get a comprehensive picture of what these wines have to offer.
