Ah...spring in Europe. If you can’t be there, join PWS here, on Friday, April 12th, to savor specialty wines from Credo’s Central Europe portfolio. Enjoy ten wines representative of terroir and crafted by artisan winemakers paired with regional style foods. This is an event not to be missed. Credo brings something unique to the table that veteran PWS members and wine afficionados value above all else—above price, above hype, above numeric ratings, above awards... flawless, organic, authentic wines on the palate.
The regions represented—Germany, Austria and Hungary—bring centuries old viticulture and winemaking traditions that astute wine tasters recognize to be some of the best in the world.
If you understand the romance of these wines, you have also experienced the frustration of seeing a once generous selection of wines from these countries on PA wine store shelves steadily diminish over the past decade. Stellar representative wines are seldom seen; with preference given to a mere dozen mass produced juices. These wines could no way make a PWS-quality event. So, two years ago we began searching for importers who had the better European wines we loved and missed. Finally, we found Credo Imports. We tasted one wine, that a smarter PLCB buyer had placed in the system on a shelf (what a concept), and knew we had to reach out. After a single phone call, I knew we’d found a real gem among importers. We are thrilled to bring their wines to you. Wine details will follow in future articles. Right now we want to share the story, which in itself, should easily sway you to reserve several seats for the event.
Daniel Satola, founder and co-owner, founded Credo Imports in 2019 with the vision of creating a family-owned company to import and market small production fine wines from family-owned producers in Europe.
Arriving in Germany in 2013, Dan fell in love—not just with wine—but with all the romance surrounding visiting vineyards on sunny weekend afternoons. After returning to the U.S. in 2018, he too had a hard time finding quality, small production wines in stores! Realizing that countless exceptional wines weren’t making their way to the United States, he started importing varieties from small producers and more obscure European wine regions.
Matthew Goss, managing partner and co-owner, joined Credo Imports in 2020. His ancestral background, and several years of forging relationships in the Austrian and German wine communities, have proved invaluable as Credo Import’s portfolio has grown and diversified. Matt feels there is a space for anyone and everyone to find a wine they love and a place to learn and grow without pretension or judgment. Notice all the parallels to the PWS mission?
