His lyrics bring to mind early John Hiatt, Mose Allison and Lowell George. People say he sings a bit like Randy Newman or Joe Cocker, but beds a hook like Springsteen used to do in the '80s. His more recent songs explore strong otions while the music draws on blues, gospel, folk-rock and a few other genres in between. He has written and co-produced many of his own six-plus major label and independent releases as well as with other projects 4 Way Street, US Rails and Pistol For Ringo.
