Our Mixologist, Maggid Jhos Singer:

Maggid Jhos Singer is a Jewish educator at the JCC of San Francisco, where he founded QueerCore Talmud, A Svara-method, queer normative Beit Midrash (place of study). He was ordained as a Maggid—a Jewish teacher, preacher, lifecycle ritualist, bartender, scholar, and pastor—in 2002. Since few folks are familiar with the title he decided to get a credential that more folks would understand, and so also holds an MA in Jewish studies from the Graduate Theological Union, where he wrestled his love of food, wine, Jewish ritual and identity into his thesis on one of the unique aspects of American Jewish culture—Manischewitz: Judaism in a Bottle. He and his wife, Julie Batz, are the past congregational leaders of The Coastside Jewish Community and Chochmat HaLev. His teachings can be found in Torah Queeries, Balancing on the Mehitza , Hot Off The Shtender, GTU, and ELItalks.
