Bordeaux Red Wines with Kurt
Dec 5, 2018, 5-7pm, 20% off Sale All Day
Red Bordeax wines are esteemed by many, with blends of up to five grapes. For those of you less familiar with Bordeaux, the wines can be thought of in terms of two styles: “Left Bank” in which Cabernet Sauvignon is the main grape and “Right Bank” in which the main grapes are Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Kurt, and expert on Bordeaux, will present two of each style, at two different price points. Come and fine new “weekday” wines as well as wines for presents and/or special holiday events. All the wines are from 2015, whom some say was one of the best vintages ever. Come and compare four from that year and see what you think.
Le Bordeaux de Larrivet Haut Brion, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Smooth Red, Pessac, Bordeaux, This complex and powerful wine has silky tannins. Well balanced and round. This wine has style and good fruitiness.
Château Pipeau, Grand Cru, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon, Smooth Red, Saint-Émilion, Bordeaux, Aromas and flavors of chocolate genache, cherry liqueur, roasted nuts, and rose petal jam with a lightly tannic, vibrant, dry-yet-fruity full body and a warming, intricate, long tomato jam and black pepper finish with grippy tannins and moderate oak.
Château Semonlon, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, Bold Red, Haut-Médoc, Bordeaux, Elegant and supple wine with a good Cabernet Sauvignon fruit intertwined with spicy notes and mellow and slightly woody tannins.
Château Lalande, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, Bold Red, Saint-Julie, Bordeaux, A dense wine with great fruit, this has a velvet texture and great elegance. There is structure of course from the firm tannins that stay in the background, while the main thrust of this wine is its great blackberry fruit
