Although Summer Solstice 2024 is scheduled for June 20th, we are celebrating a bit earlier this year. Join us at the Faculty Club on Friday June 14th. Our celebration starts at 19:00 EDT.


As usual, the Australian Wine Society of Toronto (AWS) has its own special way of welcoming the beginning of summer - a wine and hors d'oeuvre reception on the outdoor patio, after which we will enjoy a wonderful meal provided by Chef Brad Smith and team. As usual, Cellar Master Joe Gentile has selected matching wines for our enjoyment.


A special treat for this year is we are dipping into some of our special wines, donated to us this past spring. Each order will include a sample tasting of one of the following four wines:


  • Jasper Hill Georgia’s Paddock Shiraz 2000
  • Grenock Creek Creek Block Shiraz 2001
  • Rockford Basket Press Shiraz 2002
  • Glaetzer Amon-Ra Shiraz 2005


Dinner begins at 19:30 p.m..


Cost will be $140 for AWS members, $145 for guests of AWS members on the same reservation and $150 for guests and non-member. A no-wine option is available at $115. All taxes and fees are included.

Our three course dinner will include:


First Course


  • CAPRESE SALAD - Sliced Hot House Tomato, Bocconcini Cheese, Shaved Red Onion, Basil Pesto, Aged Balsamic Glaze, Extra Virgin Olive Oil


Main Course (choice of one)


  • SALMON OSCAR - Atlantic Salmon Filet, Lump Crab Meat, Bearnaise Sauce, Garlic Fried Spinach, Potato and Chive Croquette
  • 8 oz. BEEF TENDERLOIN -Red Wine Jus, Potato and Chive Croquette, Garlic Fried Spinach
  • MOROCCAN STEW -Roasted Cauliflower, Carrots, and Sweet Peppers in a Moroccan Spiced Coconut Broth, Jasmine Rice, Fried Chickpeas, Cashews, and Scallions


Dessert Course (choice of one)


  • CRÈME BRULÉE Vegetarian / GF - Vanilla Custard, Caramelized Sugar Crust, Field Berries
  • NEW YORK CHEESECAKE - Graham Cracker Crust, Chocolate Sauce, Cherry Compote
