American Wine Society is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote the appreciation and knowledge of wine. Our local chapter here in Kalamazoo is made up of wine enthusiasts that love to take advantage of the southwest Michigan food and wine scene whilst learning about wine. We are a diverse group of wine drinkers, from those just getting into the wine scene to those that work in the industry to those that are pursuing advanced formal wine certification and credentials. We do informal tastings, bottle shares, wine dinners and educational events.
Our primary purpose is to increase the appreciation of wine through educational programs, increase knowledge and exposure to all types of wine and to educate wine enthusiasts about wine and wine-related topics in a welcoming, inclusive environment.
