City Winery & American Airlines present a five-course dinner exploring the wines and cuisine of Chile led by the City Winery culinary team and an expert sommelier on February 27th at 6:30pm
Chile may seem like a newcomer to the world of wine but its viticultural roots reach as far back as the arrival of the Spanish conquistadores, who found Chile an ideal place to plant vines. The last two decades of technological modernization have brought considerable quality enhancements to Chile's Eco-friendly viticulture, yet Chile still offers distinctive value in these economic times.
Chile’s unusual geography – over 2600 miles long with an average width of just 112 miles-- is one of its many unique characteristics. Natural geographic barriers (the Atacama Desert to the north, the Andes Mountains to the east, the Patagonian ice fields to the south, and the Pacific Ocean to the west) make Chile a veritable agricultural island. These beneficial natural barriers, along with a benevolent Mediterranean climate, make sustainability and organics a logical choice in Chilean wine growing.
