A Special Evening Event Honoring Naomi Kakiuchi
Join us for a lovely evening hosted by the Seattle Chapter of Les Dames d'Escoffier. Gather at Seattle Culinary Academy for beverages, bites, and a silent auction of incredible items from the collection of Naomi Kakiuchi as well as gifted items from other Dames. We will have fabulous cooking equipment, gift cards to beloved restaurants and shops, and more. This event is open to the public, so feel free to bring friends! Please RSVP at Eventbrite. $55/person includes event admission, two glasses of wine, Japanese-inspired appetizers, and a raffle ticket! Additional beverages and raffle tickets available for purchase.
Proceeds go to Les Dames Seattle. A 501(c)(3) not-for-profit charitable organization, we focus on raising funds for scholarships for women in the culinary, beverage, and hospitality industries. We also support community outreach programs and sustainable agriculture projects. All our efforts are based in Washington State.
Naomi Kakiuchi loved sharing her knowledge of food education mixed with culture through her business, NuCulinary. Specializing in Asian cuisine, she often was a guest chef on Holland America cruise ships and also taught at Uwajimaya, Bastyr University, Third Place Books, and other regional cooking schools. Naomi shared the family tradition of sushi making through her Art of Sushi DVDs that included her mother, Matsue Watanabe, as co-instructor.
If you visited one of the seven urban farmers markets in greater Seattle, you would find Naomi introducing local chefs in her role as the chef program manager for the Neighborhood Farmers Market Alliance. Her live chef demonstrations highlighted the Northwest's chefs and farmers and provided the how-to for cooking and eating the area's bounty of seasonal and fresh produce.
