Our normal social ways are coming together after two years of “distance socializing” and mask wearing. Wine has always been a social thing and is so much better when it is shared with family and friends. We have sequestered ourselves for the last two years with something missing.

It just did not feel the same when you were “Zooming” in on a wine tasting. It is great to be back together finally again! We have started looking for the wine tastings and wine/food events again and making plans to share with family and friends. One of my favorite websites to go to in order to find out about these wonderful events is www.localwineevents.com. During the pandemic, this website accepted a few in-person events but most were electronic wine visits.

My visits to www.localwineevents.com are now showing a wide array of wine tasting, winery concerts, wine and food events, wine festivals, and so much more. This free website has over 300,000 wine lovers looking for local wine and food events. When you log onto the website, a pop-down menu allows you to sign up for free weekly reminders for local tastings and wine events. You have your choice on what localities you wish to get information on. Since I reside in the greater Houston area, I have selected Houston as my location for a listing of all of the wine and food events registered on this free website.

If you are going on a trip to Kansas City or wherever you are going, you can look up wine and food events on this free website for the greater Kansas City area or your selected area. You can upgrade your free website membership by paying $24 per year for a stack of benefits to fill your wine cabinet and knowledge. This website deals with a multitude of locations in the USA and the world.

This website is great for both the consumer and for the event originator. You can list your wine and wine/food events for free and event sell tickets with either you as the event originator or your patrons paying for the nominal ticket sale cost. Wineries, wine bars, restaurants with wine dinners, wine festivals, and other wine-related events can upload your events with a variety of details for free.

However, if you want to make a big explosion on localwineevents.com, you can upgrade your posting for a small fee. I have used localwineevents.com to advertise charity wine events I have started like Around the World in 180 Days benefiting Bridgewood Farms and Spirits of Texas benefiting Rotary. These events are then sorted as to type of events for wine patrons easy selection of what is happening in your location. Such event types include:

- Virtual tastings (live and recorded)
- Online wine courses (WSET and other courses)
- Local events and festivals
- Wine trips and vacations (check out all of the wine regions, including river cruises)
- Web series and podcasts (lots of wine library tidbits, articles, and ask the expert)

They even have one area for “Trade Only” which provides information with free tastings for Sommeliers, wine columnists and other people of the trade dealing with wine regions. These restricted access events help to promote wine regions and provide lots of information to those dealing with wine trade.

If you want to educate yourself about wine, this is a great way to “open your eyes” to beyond your world of wine. The localwineevents.com provides wine lovers with a huge listing of wine tastings and educational programs to help you step outside of your world of wine into a much larger world where you can enjoy a much broader wine world.
