Join us for a fun night of cocktail revelry and craft spirits exploration! In honor of Independence Day, we’ll be crafting some cocktails reminiscent of the tipples our forefathers would have been drinking in their day. Featuring spirits from Rapscallion SpiritsIn Distill of the Night, and Corbin Cash, we’ll be making an Ampersand and a Pink Lady. If you want to participate in the cocktail making, there are a few additional ingredients you’ll need: sweet vermouth, orange bitters, lemon, grenadine, and an egg (and lotsa ice!). Joining us to talk about the delicious gins and brandies we’ll be using will be Lee and Michelle Sassen from Rapscallion SpiritsDavid Souza from Corbin Cash, and Ken Andrus from In Distill of the Night.

About Corbin Cash Spirits (CA)

For nearly 100 years, we’ve been lucky to have farmland in California’s beautiful San Joaquin Valley, where rich soil and endless sunshine create the perfect conditions for raising the best sweet potatoes. When David John Souza took the reigns of the family business, he set out to discover new ways people could enjoy this delicious food. A love of good times, plus a dose of entrepreneurship, led him to create an ultra-premium spirits company called Corbin Cash, named after his son Corbin Cash Souza.

Innovation. It’s the heart of this great big world we all live in. And David is most certainly an innovator. When you grow up in a family that has been farming sweet potatoes for almost 100 years, you have your path cut out for you. You, my friend, are a sweet potato farmer! And while David would proudly call himself that, he also saw an opportunity to do more with sweet potatoes and their rye cover crop. Particularly since, let’s be honest, David really likes to entertain and have a good time. But how many sweet potato dinner parties can one host?! So, he figured that they make vodka with white potatoes, why not make vodka with sweet potatoes? And why not make Rye Whiskey with that cover crop when they were done with it? Genius!

About In Distill of the Night (CA)

Ken Andrus was born and raised in the Central Valley where he graduated from University of the Pacific and went into a successful career as a compound pharmacist. After over 40 years in the field, Ken retired and with the help of David Souza of Sweet Potato Spirits, In Distill of the Night Spirits was born.

The concept was simple, take carefully selected Central California wine varietals, and using time honored consistent distillation methods create the highest grade product possible. Then, delicately aging the product in American and European oak barrels, and blend it to perfection in small batches to create a truly unique artisan Brandy.

Today, despite winning a Bronze Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2016 and a Silver Medal in 2018, Velvet Night brandy is still bottled and labeled in small batches by friends and family.

Our Pomegranate Vine Shine has pomegranate tartness with hints of cinnamon and ginger, crafted by infusing fruit juice, spices and Mendocino County Zinfandel-based spirits. Showing excellent balance between sweet and tart flavors. A versatile drink that is excellent chilled on its own, in cocktails, or as an aperitif when mixed with white wine or champagne.

The Flapper Gin is a wonderfully complex small batch gin that you’ll probably love, regardless of whether you consider yourself a gin drinker or not.  Distilled with Juniper, Coriander seed, Licorice/Star Anise, Lemon peel, Cassia Bark, Orris Root, Cubeb Berries, and Grains of Paradise. Our small batch American gin is remarkable enough to drink neat.
