“A Chef’s Journey to Oakland” Dinner Series Continues at The Terrace Room

The second in the “A Chef’s Journey to Oakland” dinner series at The Terrace Room in Oakland is scheduled for Friday, October 18 beginning at 6:30 p.m. (bar opens at 5:30 p.m.). Chef Eddie Blyden has created a dining experience that spans three nights over three months and traces his 20+ year career and journey to Oakland by way of West Africa, Germany and the Caribbean.

This dinner will feature a menu of German and Swiss cuisine paired with beers in the spirit of Oktoberfest and it reflects the time that Chef Blyden spent in Munich, Germany working for Hans Haas at the highly acclaimed Tantris restaurant. Guests will be able to enjoy live music during the course of the evening performed by Big Lou’s Polka Casserole.

Tickets are available via https://www.eventbrite.com/e/a-chefs-journey-to-oakland-europe-oktoberfest-tickets-71124030891?aff=Fortune, can be purchased for $10.00 and include admission to the live music performance and a complimentary glass of wine, pint of beer or cocktail of the night for each ticket purchased. All other food and beverage menus items will be available a la carte and must be purchased separately. Among the food selections will be Potato and Bierwurst Salad with creamy mustard dressing/$13.00; Roasted Organic Chicken with lemon, paprika and thyme/$20.00; Spaetzle with rabbit, sweet corn, tarragon and wild mushrooms/$22.00; Schnitzel with herbed pommes frites and lemon/$21.00; and a Bratwurst Plate with whipped potatoes, sauerkraut and a dark beer and onion sauce/$21.00.

The final dinner in the series will take place on Friday, November 15 and will represent the culmination of Chef’s journey. Previous influences will be reflected in his modern take on Bay Area/California cuisine and there will again be live music.

The glass-enclosed Terrace Room dining room is housed in an historic landmark building (circa 1927) with a distinctive combination of Art Deco and Mediterranean styling that evokes the elegance of a bygone era. Highlights include elaborate wrought-iron pillars that open to breathtaking views of Lake Merritt, a series of murals by a well-known Bay Area artist depicting scenes of the lake and surrounding area, and period light fixtures. This elegant room has long been “the place” to hold lavish weddings, celebrations and private parties, and entertainment greats such as the Count Basie Band have played there.

The Terrace Room Restaurant & Bar is located at 1800 Madison Street, at 17th Street, in Oakland, California. The restaurant is open Monday through Friday for lunch and dinner and on Saturday and Sunday for brunch. Visit The Terrace Room on the Web at www.theterraceroom.com.
