To say that I'm excited about this tasting might be a bit of an understatement! Some of you might know this but the Loire Valley is kinda my jam. I'm kinda a huge fan of Chenin Blanc and I'm an ultra huge fan of Cabernet Franc so when I realized I could hold a tasting with the Germain wines...I almost pissed my pants. Where do you and I ever have a chance to taste wines that are made with vines from 8 to 112 years old? Yup!!
Morgan w/ NW Beverage will be pouring the wines for us and taking us on a stroll though the vineyards of Saumur-Champigny & Saumur.
2016 Germain Saumur “L'Insolite” - Chenin Blanc made from 90 year old vines.
2016 Germain Saumur-Champigny “Les Roches” - 25 year old Cab Franc vines.
2016 Germain Saumur “Clos de l'Ecotard” - 8 year old Chenin Blanc vines.
2013 Germain Saumur “L'Insolite” - Chenin Blanc made from 90 year old vines.
2016 Germain Saumur “Bulles de Roche” - 60 year old vines of 90% Chenin Blanc, 5% Cabernet Franc, 5% Chardonnay. Yup...5% Cab Franc!
As you can see...this is gonna be a killer tasting and I cannot wait!
