Join us this summer at the Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management Institute for the Summer Wine Series, 2019!
This year's theme: Wine Country – A survey of classic wine producing countries, their regions, and styles of wine. These informative sessions include a selection of wines from regions that help demonstrate style and quality while we explore ‘how the wines got that way.’ Each session includes a tasting, course material gathered by instructor, Ken Lipsmeyer, and a selection of hors d’ oeuvres themed to pair with the evening’s topic.
This Session: The Wines of Spain
Organized wine production has taken place in the area of Spain for millennia and yet in this millennium, we have seen the regions of Spain continue to innovate, improve and evolve as the vingnerons of the country help to help define modern wine styles.
In this class, we take a look at the ‘countries’ of Spain, working our way from the cooler wine regions of ‘Green Spain’, to the scorched sands and albrizia soils of Andalucía in the hot, dry south.
We will explore the regions of Rias Baixas, Rioja, Ribera del Duero, Rueda, Valdepenas, Priorat, and Jerez as we follow a key factor in wine style, climate.
To accompany our tasting, we will also enjoy a selection of Tapas prepared by CAHMI chefs.
