Turley Wine Cellars

Turley Wine Cellars makes forty-seven wines from over fifty vineyards, the vast majority of which are single vineyard designate Zinfandels and Petite Syrahs. By focusing on old vine vineyards in particular, Turley aims to both create and preserve California’s unique winemaking culture.

All of our vineyards are either certified organic by California Certified Organic Farmers or somewhere in the process, and we use all natural yeasts in the fermentations.

They aim to be stewards of some of California’s most historic vineyards, producing distinctive wines that reflect their heritage.

Christina Turley, Turley Wine Cellars Director of Marketing and Sales, joins us this year at TWE.   The oldest of Larry Turley’s four daughters, Christina spent summers growing up working beside her father in the winery.  She moved to New York to attend Barnard College at Columbia University, and graduated in 2006 with a BA in Art History.  After a brief stint at Matthew Marks Gallery, she buckled down and finally got serious about wine, becoming a Certified Sommelier with the Court of Master Sommeliers and passing the WSET Advanced program with Honors.  She became entrenched in the NYC restaurant scene and eventually worked her way up to become the beverage director for the Momofuku Restaurant Group.  After 8 years in New York her father finally guilted her into returning to her roots, and following a temporary period as a sales representative for Chambers & Chambers Wine Merchants, Christina joined Turley full time in 2010. She has since been named to both Forbes' "30 Under 30" and Wine Enthusiast's "40 Under 40."

Second Empire

The Dodd-Hinsdale house (circa 1879) was originally built for Mayor William H. Dodd on a lot given to him by his parents in 1871. In 1993, Ted Reynolds and his family obtained an Option to Purchase the property and quickly went about developing a strategy to restore the property to its initial grandeur and set into motion the restoration project to transform the home into a restaurant.

Opened in 1997, Second Empire Restaurant, located in the elegantly restored Dodd-Hinsdale house, combines history, atmosphere, and gourmet cuisine for an unforgettable dining experience.

Their Main Dinner Menu changes every month and features Chef Daniel Schurr’s creations from the freshest seasonal ingredients. This menu is offered on the main floor dining areas and the Tavern.

Their delectable menu and polished service has won them the AAA Four Diamond Award, the DiRoNa Award and the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence since 1998 will assure you a truly unique dining experience.
