This is the time of year we do NOT crave for ethereal rosés, tender white wines and elegant see-through reds – Bring on Power! We’ll explore the world of naturally concentrated red wines, made from thick skinned grape varieties grown in regions that encourage ripeness of fruit and tannins. We’ll travel to the soaring vineyards in the foothills of the Andes; the rocky ancient vineyards of Catalonia and Ribera del Duero; Sonoma’s sunny northern AVA’s of Alexander Valley and Dry Creek Valley; the warm pockets of South Australia, especially the Barossa Valley; Languedoc’s Mediterranean coastal vineyards; the bottom of Italy’s beautiful “boot” … And who knows where else! You can look forward to Shiraz/Syrah, Bordeaux varietals, Tempranillo, Grenache/Garnacha, Carignan/Cariñena, Nero d’Avola, and more. All beautiful dense reds that warm the soul.
