Our friend Judy Lebel is back with four super wines that will pair well at traditional Thanksgiving meals, and are just great anyway. Judy is “Best Year Ever”, representing small boutique wineries, all of which operate at least sustainably. Torii Mor’s Pinot Gris has a cornucopia of flavors, with tropical fruits and a crisp minerality. The Mountain View Pinot Noiris a great offering from Santa Cruz. The Ty Caton’s en Tycementis an elegant and layered (one might say “enticing”) blend of Zinfandel and several other red grapes. The Optima Zin is big, bold, and will stand up to spicy foods.
Torii Mor, Pinot Gris, Crisp White, Willamette, OR, Y, “Floral notes of honeysuckle followed by ripe Bartlett pear, green apples and dried herbal spice. The flavors beautifully reflect the aroma with crisp acidity and a light mineral essence.”
Mountain View Natural Briges Vineyard, Pinot Noir, Smooth Red, Santa Cruz, CA, Y, Bold beautiful fruit, lovely in the mouth . Ripe berry fruit, bright cherry and plum flavors. Crisp acid balance and moderate tannins.
Ty Caton en Tycement, Zin, Petit Syrah, Cabernet Sauv, Bold Red, Lodi, CA, Y, The wine leads with aromas of boysenberry and blackberry. It greets the palate with lush notes of dark fruit and a smooth hint of chocolate. The finish lingers on your tongue and the taste is heightened with just a touch of spice.
Optima Zinfandel, Bold Red, Dry Creek, Sonoma, CA, Y, Full and juicy bouquet with nice brambly spice, continuing in the mouth with dried cranberry flavors
