While you may not know this winemaker’s name, we promise you have tried and love his wines.
When winemaker, David Phinney, first started Orin Swift his most cherished wine was his Zinfandel. From 1998 to 2000, Phinney learned winemaking by trial and fire (literal fire to his crops in late 1999). He gave all he had in 2000 and made a wine called Prisoner. (Yes, the wine we all know and love.) Phinney made Prisoner for the next eight years and sold the brand in 2008 with the promise that he would not make Zinfandel for eight years. This year, he released 8 Years in the Desert and is finally reunited with the varietal that got him started in the wine business and created Orin Swift.
As Phinney says, “It was never if…but when would we make Zinfandel again. That when is now.”
On November 14, join us for an evening with Orin Swift wines.
