First-Name Basis IV: Exalted Truths Of Champagne, With 2 Grower-Producers
Thu, October 25, 2018 (5:00pm, 6:00pm)
Cost: $40
Bernard Dumont and David Bourdaire-Gallois are artisanal winemakers in Champagne -- with vineyards in the Aube and Massif Saint-Thierry, respectively. They are at the forefront of a small-scale grower-based revolution now underway in one of the greatest winemaking regions anywhere.
Champagne is unlike any other wine -- sparkling or still -- on Earth. The necessary labor, skill, and attention to climate are extraordinarily complex. Champagne wines produced by the people who grow the grapes are the minority, but they have become some of the most sought-after in the world. We're excited to introduce you to two such esteemed grower producers, who will show us the surprising diversity of styles available from artisanal Champagne.
Along with the extraordinary wines, Ken Hashimoto of the famed Miyake Restaurants in Portland will be making sushi on site! And we will have specially prepared food from Rosemont's bakery and kitchen as well.
Tickets are a shockingly low $40. Reserve with wineclub@rosemontmarket.com
