This trustworthy and easy to understand guide is accurate and exhaustive without using abstruse terms known just to experts and gives clarity to the extremely broad panorama of Italian wines, selecting those that most represent their winery (from the historic ones to the most interesting newcomers).
The author of The Essential Guide to Italian Wine is Daniele Cernilli, a great, historic name in wine criticism. Daniele has followed the development of the Italian wine world, from the 1970s, through the great “revolution” of the 1980s and 1990s and its Renaissance over the last decade. His deep knowledge of the terroir, of the new and old varieties, of the quality of Italian wines and the people behind the wine make him one of the most highly respected palates and personalities in Italy.
