LIOCO was conceived in the alley behind Spago Beverly HIlls in 2005 by wine director Kevin O’Connor and wine salesman Matt Licklider. Their interest was in making some local wines that favored nuance over power - an approach that placed them at the vanguard of the New California Wine movement. Today the winery is owned by Matt & Sara Licklider, who along with their small team produce the wines in a warehouse in Santa Rosa. All of the fruit is purchased from exceptional vineyards with older vines, interesting soil and heritage clones spanning 200-miles (Santa Cruz, Sonoma, and Mendocino). LIOCO was named "Winery of the Year" in 2016 by Wine & Spirits Magazine.
