Educational     Light Appetizers      Tasting (sit down)     Wine

An educational wine experience

In this Alpine showdown, we will explore the Mosel and Rhine areas of Germany and the beautiful wine regions of eastern Austria. Discover that, in fact, most Rieslings are not sweet!  Learn the beautifully logical system of classifying German and Austrian wines and amaze your friends with your new-found knowledge! Try, for perhaps the first time, delicious Austrian wines, perfect for Atlanta’s warm sultry summers and enjoy a taste of authentic German foods prepared by our executive Chef.

Let us transport you to some of the most picturesque and coldest fine wine growing regions in the world while also learning about the cuisine. German food is known for being rich and flavorful with each region claiming its own specialty dishes. In this class, we'll explore how these local favorites pair with the regional wines. Guten Appetit!

Sit back and relax as your sommelier instructor sets the stage for an unforgettable, educational wine and cuisine experience. Our wine classes provide a unique context for the enjoyment of wine appropriate for every level of interest and expertise. Taste wine as it was meant to be enjoyed, paired to perfection with regional recipes.

Throughout the evening, you will learn about the history, culture and language of wine through visual presentations, commentary and anecdotes from our personal experiences. And best of all, you’ll leave us with greater confidence, passion and understanding of the grapes so you can ultimately experience the pleasure of wine.

Class will include:

  • A primer on German pronunciation, i.e. how do you say Beerenauslese?
  • An overview of the top wine producing areas of Germany and Austria

  • History of German and Austrian production through current day

  • Visual presentation and pictures of regions

  • Eight wines for tasting

  • Traditional pairings for tasting

  • All AWS courses include Chef's tasting of appetizers
