A Culinary Extravaganza In Bountiful Burgundy -- Multiple Departures
Mon, September 7, 2020 (Departure Date)
Cost: From $5870 Per Person Based on Double Occupancy; Single Supplement of $1800.
It’s easy to see why travelers fall in love with Burgundy, France. It is the culinary heart of France and home to legendary vineyards with UNESCO World Heritage status. Burgundy in September, though, is even more stupendous because the harvest is in full swing. However, Burgundy with Chef Bob Waggoner in September will be unparalleled! Throughout the 12-night tour, you will experience the colorful, rich history — and all of the delectable epicurean delights — of this beguiling region, including Maçon, Tournus, Chalon-sur-Saône, Beaune, and Dijon, and walk in the footsteps of a younger Chef Bob Waggoner. His personal experience living in Burgundy for nearly 12 years — working alongside numerous Michelin-star chefs, securing his own spot as Chef de Cuisine at the two-star Michelin Le Vieux Moulin in Beaune, and being Knighted with the “L’Odre du Mérite Agricole” from the Government of France — will make this a trip you won’t soon forget … not to mention the exquisite, 5-Star accommodations and activities carefully curated by Premier Tours & Travel on this exclusive tour. You will also spend three nights in the capital of gastronomy, Lyon, in the Rhone region to round out your palette and tour.

Highlights of Your Stay in Lyon (3 Nights)
You will be greeted at Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport by our local Premier Tours & Travel representatives for a private group transfer* to a Welcome Lunch in the world capital of gastronomy, Lyon in the Rhône region, before checking in to enjoy your 5-Star luxury accommodations, Hotel Boscolo, for your first night at leisure. The next day, you will have plenty of time to rejuvenate before your afternoon guided city walking tour of the ancestral home of French cuisine, including a guided tour with tastings at Le Cite de la Gastronomie — the first cultural center dedicated to gastronomy. You will have the remainder of the day at leisure to explore Lyon. The next day promises to be very illuminating with a private, guided tour and film viewing at Institut Lumière, a museum that honors the contribution to filmmaking by Auguste and Louis Lumière — inventors of the cinématographe (motion picture camera) and fathers of the cinema. You will end your Lyon experience with a Traditional Lyonnais Dinner to further prepare your senses for the culinary adventures that lie ahead on tour with Chef Bob Waggoner.
Highlights of Your Stay at Château de Montsymond (7 Nights)
After your gastronomy and sightseeing adventures in Lyon are complete, private transfers will transport you from Hotel Boscolo to your historic (yet luxuriously modernized) accommodations, Château de Montsymond in Burgundy. This incredible chateau, which was built in 1571 and painstakingly restored, enjoys an exceptional location in the heart of Southern Burgundy. Throughout the next week, you will call Château de Montsymond home and enjoy plenty of leisure time to partake in the exceptional offerings on property, including the gorgeous swimming pool, a private fishing pond, billiard and poker and chess lounges, a Pétanque court, massage therapy services, and a games room, as well as activities that take you off property, such as biking to the nearby medieval village of Romenay, a vineyard biking tour, tennis in Romenay, golf, a catfish hunting safari, and a hot air balloon ride.**
You also will enjoy daily interactive cooking opportunities and nightly gourmet Chef’s dinners with Chef Bob and a locally acclaimed chef for your Welcome Dinner on property. A carefully balanced itinerary of sightseeing, wine tasting, and culinary experiences off property have been curated for you, including a dinner at a Michelin-star restaurant in Tournus, France – a small but Michelin-mighty village in Burgundy.
Highlights of such visits include:
Maçon, where you will enjoy a guided walking tour to see such historically significant sites as Maison de Bois and Église Saint-Pierre, lunch at leisure, and a visit to leading vineyard in the Maçonnais wine district — the southernmost wine district in Burgundy. You will experience a guided visit through the vineyard and enjoy a tasting of their award-winning wines.
Chalon-sur-Saône, where you will experience market day and a guided walking tour in this riverside town on the Saône, with time at leisure for shopping and lunch before transferring to Château de Germolles, to experience a palatial, historically significant residence of the Dukes of Burgundy that has been extensively preserved.
Beaune, the charming walled town distinguished by its unique array of pre-Roman, medieval, and Renaissance architecture, where not only will you have a guided tour of the Hotel-Dieu Museum/ Hospices de Beaune — a flamboyant example of Gothic architecture and one of France’s most prestigious historic monuments, you will also have time to roam at leisure or alongside Chef Bob as he recounts his days in Beaune as Chef de Cuisine at the two-star Michelin Le Vieux Moulin, sharing stories of life in Burgundy as a chef with his wife, Christine, and their daughter. After you will be transferred to Chef Bob’s friend’s winery in Aloxe-Corton: Maison Louis Latour. Enjoy a personal tour of and select tasting at Château Corton-Grancy, built in 1749 and owned by the Latour family since 1891, followed by a gourmet lunch with Latour wine.
Dijon, where you will explore the capital city of the historical Burgundy region in eastern France, one of the country’s principal wine-making areas. You will enjoy a guided gourmet walking tour, which will include Les Halles (food market), a mustard tasting and a tasting of the renowned pain d’épice (spice bread), as well as a close-up view of the historical architecture that ranges from Gothic to art deco. After leisure time to stroll Dijon and to enjoy lunch, you will head to Dole, France to get a glimpse — and taste — of living in the Jura region of France, including a visit to the Fromagerie Comtoise for a tasting of Comté cheese and Jura red wine.
Tournus, stretching on the banks of the Saône between the plain of Bresse and Mountains Macon, where you will visit a local organic farm, Le Cos-Piguet. You will discover the world of the black truffle and the work of a truffle dog, as well as have the opportunity to taste both the black truffle and Safran (another of the gourmet grown and harvested at Le Cos-Piguet) with a glass of wine. Following your morning tour, you will be transferred to Pont-de-Vaux for a leisurely river cruise with lunch on the Pont-de-Vaux canal and the Saône River, before coming back through the Pont-de-Vaux lock.
You will close out your magical week in Burgundy with a Farewell dinner with Chef Bob. Private transfers will transport you to Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport on your final morning.
