Virtual Tasting Premier Host
Syrah-based wines from Northern Rhône appellations such as Hermitage and Côte-Rôtie have been recognized as among the world’s greatest for well more than a century. Aside from Shiraz from Australia, contenders at the top level from other global locations are quite new, but the best of them are already strikingly competitive. Extraordinary renditions are now being produced in Italy, Spain, Switzerland, South Africa, California, Washington, Chile, New Zealand and…of course, Australia. This blind tasting will pit some of the world’s most impressive upstarts against a selection of Rhône’s most exalted examples. Although the competitive aspect of this class will be fun, the tasting will also illuminate the impressively broad range of structural and flavor profiles the Syrah variety can manifest in different growing locations.
Wine samples available for pickup by appointment on Friday, October 22 between 12pm – 5pm.
