Telegraph Hill Neighborhood Center (TEL HI) announced their first ever virtual gala fundraiser. “A Taste of TEL HI” will take place on Friday, September 18, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This event will benefit the many programs TEL HI provides in direct services to low-income children, seniors and families.
Everyday, the center serves over 1,000 people whose ages range from three months to 100 years and represent a wide range of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds. Through its 130 years, TEL HI has been operating on the frontline, lending support in major disasters including the Great Earthquake and Fire of 1906, the 1918 Spanish Flu epidemic, the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake and the current Covid-19 pandemic.
This year’s virtual event is complimentary and open to the public. Anyone who pre-registers has a chance to win a $1,000 Food & Wine Shopping Spree sponsored by Postmates.
Franco Finn, animated hypeman for the Golden State Warriors will be the emcee. Mayor London Breed will be a featured guest speaker and other special appearances by San Francisco dignitaries will highlight the evening. Guests will have a chance to win items in the silent and live auctions, including a virtual paella party from Canela Restaurant, a fabulous RV weekend getaway, The Great Campervan Escape for two; and a private cooking class for six by Chef Matthew Dolan of 25 Lusk restaurant. During the cocktail party segment from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., McGurrin (Mac) Leibert, General Manager of Pier 23 Café and a member of TEL HI’s Board of Directors, will showcase how to make a “TEL HI-tini.”
