Local Event
Cost: $200.00 Plus Cost of No-Host Dinner
WineSmith winemaker Clark Smith, author of Postmodern Winemaking, will present his ground-breaking European-style Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignons from the famed Napa Valley College Student Vineyard and discuss the revolutionary techniques that made them possible. For additional information, see our event description page.
These rare library wines are valued at $3,000. For $200 per person, take a rare tour of vintage wines with Clark.
After, stay for a no-host dinner prepared by Master Chef Rick Vargas.
WineSmith Faux Chablis, 100% Napa Valley Chardonnay, Student Vineyard
Vintages 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006
These are amazingly well-preserved, Chablis-style wines of considerable minerality and all ~12.9% alcohol.
WineSmith Crucible, 100% Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.
Vintages 1999, 2004, 2005 and 2007
These are made in the style of the 1re cru Pauillacs, the way Clark Smith believes Napa Cab should be made and almost never is.
We will also compare two 2010 Cabernet Francs from Diamond Ridge Vineyards in Lake County, one from WineSmith in a classic St. Emilion style compared with Two Jakes Roman Reserve an ancient style without sulfites. We love these wines equally, but they are very different and make for a fascinating comparison.
We invite you to share in this unique experience of tasting, learning with other like-minded wine geeks.
The event will be held at La Bodega Kitchen, Sebastopol CA on Monday, January 20, 2020.
Tasting starts at 7 PM with a sparkling wine reception with Clark at 6:30 PM.
Bring along your copy of Postmodern Winemaking for Clark to sign.
We hope you will join us. Please forward this email to friends and associates you think might be interested.
We hope to see you there.
