Often described as the agricultural heart of Europe, Hungary has been producing wine for nearly 1000 years.

Athena Bochanis, owner and founder of Palinkerie Fine Hungarian Imports, started in 2013 to present the proud legacy and exciting development of Hungarian wine to the US market. Palinkerie's collection represents Athena's favorite finds from Hungary’s burgeoning wine scene today: hand-crafted, small-batch, natural and sustainable wines from distinctive grapes. Wines that reflect Hungary’s diverse microclimates and its long history of winemaking. Wines imbued with the adventures, successes and struggles of centuries past, yet move forward, hopeful, towards the future ahead.

We will taste through a selection of her wines while discussing Hungary's wine scene.
