Join us for an evening of wine and fun! We will pair 10 Vancouver Island wineries with 10 local businesses in Nanaimo's beautiful Old City Quarter. Our unique experience will allow you to Sip, Stroll, and Shop the night away! The Wine Walk runs Friday, August 12th from 6pm - 9:00pm.

During the Wine Walk, Nanaimo's Old City Quarter businesses become “tasting rooms” where attendees may sample different Wines, Spirits, Beers and Ciders. Stroll from business to business exploring what downtown has to offer and shop while you sip from your souvenir glass.

Taste Wine, Spirits, Beer or Cider
Attendees will taste wine from 10 different ‘wineries’. Start at Black Rabbit Kitchen to pick up your commemorative 12oz non-breakable stemless wine glass, wristband, event map and 10 tasting tokens then walk from business to business exploring the Old City Quarter and chatting with wine reps, distillers, brewers and business owners. Each location will feature one winery.
Tickets will include a Charcuterie Board in-a-box that you will pick up at registration. You'll then get a suggestion of your first tasting location.
(Additional tasting tokens will be available for purchase for $6/token at registration during the Wine Walk. Only ticket-holding attendees with a wristband can purchase additional tasting tickets).
Discover Nanaimo's Old City Quarter
The OCQ is home to an eclectic group of businesses including specialty shoppes, boutiques, restaurants, community service providers and professionals. The Old City Quarter is nestled in the heart of Nanaimo, just steps from the downtown core. There's so much to explore!
When and Where to Check-in
Check-in for the event will BEGIN at 5:30pm (event begins at 6pm).
The Old City Quarter is unique, you may want to explore prior to registration; grab some lunch and visit the quaint shops.
Check-in location will be at the Black Rabbit Kitchen located at 321 Selby St, Nanaimo.
Please do not forget your driver’s license (must show proof of age), as we will check ID for ALL attendees. This allows us to serve you at the various sites without requiring you to show your ID at every spot. At check-in, you will receive a wristband, wine glass, 10 taste tokens and a map to all the tasting sites. You won't be able to sample without your wristband.
Please note Wine Walks Nanaimo Edition will be held rain or shine. No refunds will be given if it rains.
Rules
Your wine glass must be empty before leaving each stop. (You don't have to drink it, but you can't have alcohol in your glass when you're walking outside.)
Attendees must be 19. Please bring ID with you.
Redeem taste tokens at each location for samples. You will be able to sample every wine or offering at each location for 1 token, each pour will be approximately 1 oz. except spirits/beer/cider, which will be different.
Suggestions
Keep your glass in hand throughout the event or label/decorate it with a Sharpie to avoid confusion during the walk. Choose your route in advance to avoid getting separated from your group. Everyone will be assigned a starting point, please try and stick to this to avoid overcrowding in any one particular store.
Wear comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing, since you'll be walking outdoors between locations.
Be sure to eat lunch during the day to avoid drinking on an empty stomach.
Cross the streets at crosswalks.
Bring your ID.
Manage your alcohol intake; we reserve the right to refuse serving anyone who appears to be intoxicated.
Your tickets are non-refundable, but they are transferrable. If you are transferring your ticket to a different person, please be sure to login to Eventbrite and update the name on your ticket.
