Meet Our ChefsDima Martseniuk - Chef and Restaurateur, RutaChef Dima Martseniuk, originally from Ukraine, has earned the nickname “Ambassador of Borscht.” As the former executive chef of New York’s famed Ukrainian restaurant Veselka, he’s worked to get his home country's signature beet soup a special designation “in need of urgent safeguarding” on UNESCO’s cultural heritage list.
Martseniuk has been featured on popular food programs such as “Beat Bobby Flay,” “Guy's Big Project,” “Good Morning America,” and the “Rachel Ray Show.” Martseniuk is also working with the Ukrainian ministry of foreign affairs as ambassador of Ukrainian cuisine in U.S. Now, he’s giving DC a taste with the opening of the city’s first full-service Ukrainian restaurant named Ruta, near Capitol Hill’s Eastern Market.
Matt Adler - Chef and Restaurateur, Caruso’s GroceryMatthew Adler is the chef and owner of Caruso’s Grocery in Washington, DC as well as MRA Culinary, a consultancy that focuses on the hospitality industry. Adler started working with WCK in 2019 during Chefs for Feds and has assisted in a number of disaster responses since, including in Yokohama, Japan.
