Join us at Walsh Family Winery for the fifth evening of our 2022 Outdoor Dinner Series. We are honored to host Chef Berj Ghazarian as he serves a meal featuring smoky barbecue dishes reminiscent of world travel. Expect dishes who's flavors also reflect the Armenian heritage shared by he and his wife, Leah. Enjoy a chef’s curated dining experience outside of our tasting room, amongst the grapevines and pines, and raise a glass of Loudoun County wine with old friends and new faces alike.

Berj Ghazarian began his career in food at the age of 16, in his parents Italian restaurant and gelateria in Annapolis, MD. In college, he started his first business venture with his father Boris, in food manufacturing. While building this business, Berj had a chance to visit Austin Texas in 2010. While in Austin, Berj experienced what central Texas barbecue was when he first stepped into The Salt Lick and saw the smokehouse, where they were cooking whole briskets, spare ribs, sausage and other delicacies. It was then, when Berj knew he wanted to immerse himself in the American culinary tradition we call barbecue. Within weeks of arriving back in DC, Berj purchased his first backyard offset smoker from a local Home Depot. After a year of trial and error, he began competing in the Barbecue circuit.

Starting in 2018, Berj began collaborating with chefs from New York and Washington DC through a series of restaurant pop-ups. These include events with Chefs Adam Greenberg, Josh Irwin, Michael Rafidi, Johnny Spero, Katsuya Fukushima and many others. These collaborations inspired Berj to open their first brick and mortar location on Kent Island in Maryland. Bark Barbecue Café is a barbecue inspired café and eatery that serves barbecue, sandwiches, bowls, pastries, soft serve and coffee.

In 2022, Bark Barbecue was named the number two spot on the Washington Posts best barbecue spots in the DMV.
