As part of the City of Scottsdale’s Western Week, an homage to the area’s Western roots and culture to date, the Scottsdale Gallery Association announces its Western Week themed Gold Palette ArtWalk on Thursday, April 15 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Hosted by the Scottsdale Gallery Association with participation of member art studios and galleries throughout the Scottsdale Arts District, which resides along Main Street from Scottsdale Road to Goldwater Boulevard and north of Indian School on Marshall Way to 5th Avenue, the Western Week themed ArtWalk will feature Western artists and live music from Desert Dixie.

“Scottsdale is home to an incredible wealth of Western artists and many of our galleries also feature Western art from around the world,” says Scottsdale Gallery Association President French Thompson. “The City’s Western Week celebration is a perfect time for us to help promote and showcase that art, much of which pays homage to the city’s rich Western history and culture.”

Participating galleries with specialty Western themed events and exhibits of their own include:

Mainview Gallery

7120 E. Main Street

Two highly skilled Western artists will be in attendance doing live demonstrations including Elie Hazak, whose bronze sculptures depict vivid scenes of Indians, cowboys and mountain men, and painter Dale TerBush, whose constant state of creativity results in electrifying ethereal landscape art that is elegant, mysterious, exciting and bold.

On the Edge Gallery

7077 E. Main Street, Suite 1

On the Edge presents the “Best of the New West” featuring four talented and non-traditional Western and Southwestern artists onsite to meet and mingle including Lynn Thrower (unique skull creations), Julie Gilbert (Southwest Boho organic and “mildly contemporary” art), Gail Haire (paintings inspired by the joy of nature) and Sheila Kollasch (vibrant desert scenes brought to life by her childhood memories in the Sonoran Desert).

Wilde Meyer Gallery

4142 N. Marshall Way

During the ArtWalk, “The Wilde Wild West” event takes place at Wilde Meyer Gallery, featuring an in-depth look at western habitats and their inhabitants through the eyes of contemporary artists including Sherri Belassen, Karen Bezuidenhout, James Swanson, Ron Russon, Kari Rives, Theresa Paden, Chaille Trevor, Sarah Webber, Peggy McGivern, Peggy Judy, Ka Fisher, Greg Dye, and more.

Xanadu Gallery

7039 E. Main Street, Suite 101

Xanadu Gallery celebrates Western Week with new works by mixed-media collage artist Dave Newman who incorporates old photography, paint, and random objects and memorabilia into his popular art.

The Gold Palette ArtWalk brings together the finest art in Scottsdale including 28 galleries and two museums — Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art and Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West. The Scottsdale Gallery Association hosts its weekly ArtWalk most every Thursday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. In partnership with the City of Scottsdale, the SGA also presents eight Gold Palette ArtWalk events per year that feature a dedicated theme and activities specific to the theme including demonstrations and more.
