Join us for a casual evening tasting Sangiovese wines and talking Tuscany with Italian Studies phDs and a winemaker with small bites.

Please join Prima Materia Winery 4-6pm with guest hosts Danielle Callegari and Carmen Gomez discussing both Tuscany and the history of Sangiovese wine along with winemaker Pietro of Prima Materia Winery. They not only have Ph.D.s in Italian Studies and are certified wine experts, but they also host week-long stays in Tuscany (www.thecabinetofdrcallegari.com) dedicated to learning about Italian culture and history through food and wine. Pietro will also discuss the history of Sangiovese in California and the challenges of working and growing this iconic Italian grape.

This will be a free-wheeling evening of discussion (Dr. Callegari also hosts the infamous Gola podcast) that includes a casual tasting of several Italian and Californian Sangiovese as a cultural axis. Tuscan small bites will also be provided by our friend, chef, and home winemaker Antonio Ventresco.

This event will be held outdoors, so please dress appropriately, and rain cancels unfortunately.
