Many of the wines we know from around the world are made from the same grape varieties as those in France. "Old World" refers to any country in Europe, while "New World' is the rest of the world. Tonight we will focus our tasting flight on the Rhone Valley of France and it's many grape varietals like Viognier, Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, Grenache Blanc and more - which are typically blends and found in wines like the famous Chateauneuf-du-Pape. These grapes have travelled to many countries in the "New World" to places like California, in regions such as Paso Robles and Santa Barbara where a new style of single varietal wines was born, heralded by the "Rhone Rangers," Tonight you can choose 4 wines from a list of 8 to create your custom flight of Rhone and "New World" Rhone wines.
