Local Event
In the mountains and valleys of modern California vineyards, Cabernet Sauvignon remains king. As the viticulture community adjusts to changing growing conditions, vintners must also consider the evolution of market conditions and tastes—the best among them sorting through these variables to always ask, “How do we make it better?”
Richard Luftig decided in 2010 that decades of directing New York City’s finest wine programs (he earned Wine Spectator Grand Awards for Lidia Bastianich at Felidia and for Jonathan Waxman’s Washington Park) gave him a unique perspective on how to address the proposition of creating wines that a fine-wine buyer wants to buy. So was born Pied à Terre, where (as owner) Richard directs all grape-growing and winemaking decisions. They are wines for food; specifically, wines of highest value made for the finest restaurants.
The Lake House on Canandaigua is proud to host Richard as he leads us through an evening centered around a multi-course meal in the Rose Tavern.
The menu is as follows:
Pied à Terre Sauvignon Blanc 2018
Raw Marinated Scallop, Crispy Clam, Shōyu, Granita
Pied à Terre Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 + Cabernet Sauvignon 2017
Lamb Pasta, Acorn Squash + Egg
Stuffed Squash, Lamb Jus + Meringue
