Young Inglewood was founded by mother-and-son duo Jacky and Scott Young in 2007. The vineyards consist of fourteen acres of (CCOF certified) organically farmed vines, planted to Bordeaux varietals, and optimally sited in St. Helena, on an alluvial fan that weaves in and out of the base of the Mayacamas Mountains. Scott and Jacky have been mentored by Steve Matthiasson since they first began winegrowing, and are committed to regenerative farming (through the use of cover crops, bat and bird boxes, and the introduction of beneficial insects and plant life) to protect the health of the vines and the soil. They practice non-interventionist winemaking, using only native yeasts for fermentation—a key to translating their estate’s signature character into wines of elegance and grace. The wines are all aged and/or bottled with minimal SO2. Nothing else is added or taken away. Purity and liveliness are the aim.
They launched their sister label VENN in 2013, which seeks to “capture the intersection of old ways and the new times we find ourselves in”. The VENN wines are made from fruit sourced from the Young Inglewood Estate and Dos a Dos Vineyard, located a stone's throw from Young Inglewood. This site was last replanted in 2002 and has also been farmed by the Youngs (using the same restorative organic practices) since they arrived in Saint Helena in 2007.
Join us in our wine bar on Wednesday, October 11, anytime between 4PM-7PM, where Scott will take us through five wines from his Young Inglewood and VENN portfolios of current releases.
No reservations required. Must be 21+ to attend.
