In Fruits of Eden, Damery takes readers on a thirty-year journey, vividly recounting her citizen activism to protect Napa Valley from the ravages of over-development, water plundering, government failures, greed and damaging tourism. She interweaves this with the story of her ranch, her personal history and her husband’s onset of dementia. Damery had four books published, farms organic lavender and grapes, has practiced as a Jungian psychoanalyst, is Board Member of Napa Vision 2050, has served on the Executive Committee of the Napa Sierra Club and has participated in their Northern California Forest Committee, Oak Working Group.
In Inherited Silence: Listening to the Land, Healing the Colonizer Mind, Louise Dunlap, whose ancestors were among the first Europeans to claim ownership of traditional Wappo Indians lands, takes an insightful look at how Napa Valley fared during the onslaught of colonization and how it fares now in the face of the resulting drought, development and wildfires. Dunlap is a teacher and facilitator, a writer and a Buddhist activist.
