A project dedicated to the father of bluegrass, Bill Monroe, Uncle Pen takes listeners on an intimate journey through the classic and lesser known corners of the bluegrass universe. Employing three part ‘high lonesome’ harmony on classic ballads like ‘Blue Moon of Kentucky’ and ‘I Saw the Light’ and blistering fiddle and banjo interplay on classic bluegrass tunes, the band is simultaneously steeped in the tradition but blazing it’s own trail through the bluegrass styles of today.
