The documentary "Living Wine" follows the journeys of natural winemakers in Northern California during the largest wildfire season on record. Equal parts farmer, winemaker and artist, they stay true to their ideals of creating exceptional wines made through innovative sustainable and regenerative farming and without chemical additives.
Director Lori Miller was inspired to make this film when she tasted natural wine for the first time and discovered the fun and adventurous taste. Something that tasted much more akin to the environment in which it was grown, a style of wine making that will cause variety from bottle to bottle. Soon after, when introduced to Darek Trowbridge, she learned how these innovative natural winemakers are taking a different approach to the art and science of winemaking.
The screening of Living Wine at the prestigious Art Theatre is followed by a Natural Wine Tasting at Art Du Vin Wine bar, located next to the Art Theatre at 2027 E4th Street. The tasting will be located in the patio outside.
Managers Olivia and Garret will be hosting the tasting:
Olivia Havelaar is the director of purchasing for Art du Vin. She has 4+ years in the liquor industry and chose to transition into the wine world approximately a year ago. Olivia is originally from Santa Cruz, CA, an area immersed in the natural wine industry, which has allowed her to carry previous insight into this growing passion.
Garrett Gomez serves as the Operations Manager of Art Du Vin Wine Bar. Garrett has spent the last 7 years in the wine industry and is a Level II Sommelier. He recently moved to Long Beach, CA from his home state of Texas. He loves showcasing the beauty and intricacy of natural wines at Art Du Vin and can't wait to share them with you all!
