The Publican is excited to host an unforgettable evening with Chicago-based rapper Blvck Svm, whose love of fine dining deeply influences his music. His most recent album, michelinman, is rich with culinary references, with visuals shot inside restaurant kitchens and lyrics inspired by the rituals, textures, and indulgence of food culture.
After attending his first-ever tasting menu dinner in late 2023, South Florida-raised, Chicago-based rapper Blvck Svm realized he had just eaten his way through an album. It motivated him to create a tasting menu that people could listen to. But to properly execute that idea, Svm decided he first needed to immerse himself in the worlds of high-end food and fine dining.
In 2024, he collaborated with 14 restaurants across North America to film live performances in their kitchens for a video series titled Bvck of House that he created to accompany his then-forthcoming debut album. But at each stop, he also got the chance to closely observe some of the continent’s best chefs, experience their food, and study the inner workings of their kitchens.
