For the ceremonial kick-off to summer we’re…working in a wine shop. Which isn’t actually that bad, especially if all the other folks who are staying in the DMV this weekend come by to hang out with us! If you’ll do that from 3-7pm on Friday or noon-4pm on Saturday, we’ll share a little wine as a “thanks” for coming by. Join us both days to try:

Dom De La Ferrandiere Blanc De Blanc Brut NV - A 100% Chardonnay sparkler made in Limoux (where they were making bubbles before Champagne) that delivers a nicely creamy mouth feel, fresh lemon and sliced apple fruit, a touch of toast and a crisp, dry, finish. Small bubbles, fun flavors, great price.

Dom De La Mordorée Tavel Rosé La Dame Rousse 2021 - As Robert Parker said, “If you haven't discovered it, Mordorée continues to make some of the finest dry Rosés available anywhere in the world.” Think of this as a crisp, dry, very light red and you'll be on the right track. Lovely.

Steininger Grüner Veltliner Kamptal DAC 2021 - Always the essence of minerally, crisp, Kamptal GV, the 2021 edition features fruit from one of Austria's greatest white wine vintages. Crisp pear and apple fruit, mouthfilling amplitude, and a chalky, mineral, finish, all at just 12.5% alcohol. Lovely.

Carlos Serres - Tempranillo Rioja 2020 - One of those wines that you taste and then do a doubletake when you see how low the price is! Brimming with dark black plum and blackberry fruit with hints of sandalwood, dark chocolate and a squirt of black cherry juice for lift and the end. Great all-purpose red.

Wade Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Three By Wade 2019 - 100% Napa Cab from Oakville, Rutherford and St. Helena, all aged 20 months in 75% new French oak. It's very Pahlmeyer-like in texture (Jason Pahlmeyer consults), rich, creamy, and dense with super-polished tannins that elevate the flavors through a long, smooth, finish. Seriously good and a slam-dunk value.

As always we’ll have a treat or two from the cheese case out to sample with the wines and best six/12 bottle savings available on a mix/match basis during the tastings. Take a break from your at-home Memorial Day weekend fun and join us!
